Hey Everyone, welcome to Episode 25 of the Darn Good Life Podcast. I am your host Danielle Roberts.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and in today’s episode I sit down with longtime friend and mental health advocate, Elise Rutherford.
Elise is currently in graduate school pursuing her Masters in Social Work. She got her start in the social work field in foster care and adoption. From there, she spent time working with incarcerated, homeless, and runaway youths, providing short term crisis intervention to families. She is currently working with adults who present with co-occurring disorders, and she has experience facilitating individual, family, and group sessions.
Mental health can still be a taboo topic even though most of us struggle with it. So Elise and I spent a lot of time delving into how mental health struggles show up and affect every aspect of our lives, foundational trauma, coping mechanisms and, most importantly, how to get help.
And if you or someone you know is thinking about suicide or worried about a friend or loved one, or would like emotional support, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours – call 800-273-8255.
Ok, let’s get to the show…
